Community Flags List

Created by: Pup Aechus, Florida Leather -n- Fetish Pride Critter 2019

The central heart is a nod to that element of the Leather Pride flag because of the roots critter and pet role-play have in the Leather/BDSM communities. It shows a shoe and track together, representing the unity of all sorts of critters, regardless of whether they have hooves or paws. (The shoe and track are white to represent how innocent we are, too, right?

The layered background colors should at first glance resemble dirt, grass, sky, and clouds, suggesting the natural environment in which critters typically romp. But each color has a specific meaning behind it, too:

Orange: Taken from the original Pride flag, this color represents healing, since many in the critter community find headspace to be relaxing, restorative, or therapeutic.

Green: In the original Pride flag, this represents Nature, as critters embrace their natural tendencies and instincts.

Blue: Represents the boundless sky, just as critters’ personality expressions vary with each individual. Think “the sky’s the limit” in terms of identity expression.

White: Represents the purity and simplicity of the joy critters feel and bring to our human companions. (And also our innocence, right? Right.)

Critter Pride Flag

The Critter pride flag. Created by: Pup Aechus, Florida Leather -n- Fetish Pride Critter 2019

The Puppy Pride Flag is very similar to the 7 stripe design created by Jeff Hull (Grungepup Jeff) but like the first Puppy Pride Flag with the centered Red Doberman Head, this design has all 9 Black, Blue and White stripes from the Leather Pride Flag created by Tony DeBlase that is a symbol for the leather community, which encompass those who are into leather, Levi's, SM, BD, uniform, cowboys, rubber, and other fetishes. Unlike previous flags, the White Stripe in this design is 1.5 times wider than the other stripes to represent the broadness of the puppy community and as in Grungepup's design, the stripes are set on a 30 degree diagonal reminiscent of the boy flag designed by Keith P. to indicate a new direction. Like Grungepup's design, the blood Red Bone in the center is reminiscent of the puppy pride flag designed and strictly copyrighted by Kirk "Brue" Pierce which replaced the centered red Doberman head of the original Puppy Pride Flag created by Scott Stevenson with a centered red bone and turned the stripes sideways. However, the centered red bone used in this design is larger to be more prominent and represents the unconditional, non-judgmental heart of the puppy.

Pup Flip Gray released this design to public domain so it can be used and reproduced royalty free for private or commercial use. Feel free to copy and use it.

Animal FLAG MEANING

Blue, green, and brown to represent the Earth and all its creatures. The intention here is to highlight our connection to Mother Earth as living beings, the importance of caring for our natural home as well as ourselves, and to speak to the international reach of animal role play as a whole. Our animal role play community spans the globe! We also hope this speaks to the connection between us, as human kinksters, with the biological animals we draw inspiration from in our play. It is a reminder to not only care for our fellow kinky community, but to extend that care towards the preservation and care of the animal kingdom as well.

Paw prints to show how human animals of all species come together through our mutual connection in pet play.
Animal role play isn't just for pups, kittens, and ponies. We are an intricate fabric of identities, and this includes embracing individuals who identify as a tapestry of different animals during their play. We hope that the different animal tracks from this flag take a step towards representing that diversity, and encourage others to explore different animal headspaces that appeal to them. The paw prints, clockwise starting at 12:00, are - equine, moose/bovine, red panda, muskrat/racoon, bird, domestic dog, wild canine, kit fox, frog, feline, bear, and pig/porcine.

A red heart to represent the united love with which we play and support each other. Animal role play includes all people who find joy and love in it. This includes not only white cis gay men, as is often traditionally seen, but also women; transgender people; non-binary people, as well as individuals all along the gender spectrum; Black, Brown, Indigenous, and People of Color; people of all sexualities, including those who play and live on the asexual spectrum; disabled and chronically ill individuals; as well as all other intersections of identity.

A united animal role play community is one that supports, honors, includes, and empowers individuals of all intersections. It embraces those who come to share in the love of animal role play, and makes active, intentional space for all individuals to feel welcome.

Black to represent the BDSM/kink that connects us all. We are, after all, kinksters at heart. This flag acknowledges that BDSM is the crucial ingredient defining animal role play as something different than being a furry, therian, otherkin, or anything else that is not based in kink - even though there are community overlaps.

This color also acknowledges the history of leather in animal role play, particularly in regards to puppy play. Though there are many influences that have come together to make animal role play what it is today, we honor our connection to leather history and the influence it has on our current play.

Pup and Handler Pride Flag
Original appearance in 2016 but its major public debut was at the Inaugural Australian Pup and Handler Competition in 2017 was designed as the next evolution to a flag that can represent pups and handlers. While keeping respect of the evolutionary path of previous versions with keeping the stripes and the red pup bone color codes and a nondescript pup head that you cannot tell what gender or sexuality is that .
A guiding hand to represent handlers in the community without looks like any side, pups or handlers are controlling the other, giving the spirit of individuality and being yourself as primary focus. The redesign of the horizontal stripes to be thicker were also designed to help separate from the leather pride flag as they have been confused as the same during pride events.

Pet Pride Flag

A flag to represent the Leather Pet community.

History of the HLP Bone Flag:
The HLP Bone Flag represents fetish life, sexual identity, and gender identity. There are no intentional indications of racial bias. It was hopped that the flag design would represent all human races while celebrating acceptance of fetish life hand in hand with everyone individual sexual and gender identity.

The flag was originally created as a temporary flag for the Home for Lost Pups (HLP) with hopes that the HLP community would work together to make something better. The flag concept of bone colors came from the Title Pin that Matt Redding designed for his International Geared Up Pup 2018 title year.

Matt Redding finalized this first flag version on January 9, 2019. The first real version of this flag was printed by an online flag company, and first revealed at MAL 2019 on January 18, 2019. It is used every year in the NJ Pride March in Asbury Park, NJ, and is always in view wherever the HLP group gathers.
HLP holds the rights to this flag. You are free to use it online, but only HLP is allowed to print it or otherwise sell it in physical format.
